Prediction markets now favor Democrats to win the Senate: Kalshi shows a 58% chance and Polymarket about 60%. The Cook Political Report lists seven Senate races as toss-ups, while Democrats are favored in North Carolina and Georgia. With 35 seats up, Democrats need a net gain of four to win control; a gain of three would create a 50-50 split, leaving the vice president to cast tie-breaking votes. Markets also put Democrats strongly ahead to retake the House and give them a roughly 58% chance in the next presidential race.

Prediction markets are signaling a significant shift: Kalshi now assigns Democrats a 58% chance of retaking the U.S. Senate this November, and Polymarket shows roughly a 60% probability. Those readings are the strongest market signals for Democrats this cycle and reflect a recent string of favorable polls in pivotal contests.

Where the Edge Comes From

Seven races are currently listed as toss-ups by The Cook Political Report: Texas, Alaska, Ohio, Iowa, Michigan, New Hampshire, and Maine. Beyond those competitive contests, Democrats are favored in North Carolina and Georgia — both of which President Trump carried in 2024. In Georgia, reports indicate the MAGA-backed candidate, Rep. Mike Collins, is struggling enough that some GOP operatives are considering reallocating resources away from the race, The New York Times reported.

Math Of The Senate

There are 35 Senate seats up for election this cycle. Democrats need a net gain of four seats to secure a majority. A net gain of three would produce a 50-50 split in the Senate, in which the vice president would cast the tie-breaking vote.

Prediction Markets And The Broader Picture

Prediction markets broadly mirror the improved Democratic outlook. Kalshi gives Democrats a 58% chance to win the Senate, while Polymarket shows about 60%. Markets also currently favor Democrats reclaiming the House — Kalshi places that chance at approximately 88%, and Polymarket around 90%.

Looking Ahead

Kalshi further assigns Democrats a 58% chance of winning the next presidential election, listing prominent Democratic names such as Sen. Jon Ossoff (GA), Gov. Gavin Newsom (CA), and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) among leading figures. On the Republican side, Kalshi lists JD Vance, Sen. Marco Rubio, and Gov. Ron DeSantis as top-tier contenders. As with all markets and polls, these probabilities can shift quickly with new developments.

Note: Prediction markets and polls provide probabilistic snapshots, not certainties. Campaign dynamics, turnout, and late-breaking events can alter outcomes between now and Election Day.
