President Trump held a Cabinet meeting at Camp David to address the five‑month conflict with Iran and rising gasoline prices that have become a political liability for Republicans ahead of the November midterms. The trip was his third to Camp David during his second term and the meeting was the 13th of the term, the White House said. Officials focused on foreign policy strategy and the domestic economic consequences of the conflict as Trump headed to his Bedminster golf club for the weekend.
Trump Convenes Cabinet At Camp David As Iran Conflict And Fuel Prices Threaten Midterms

President Donald Trump on Friday convened a Cabinet meeting at his Camp David retreat to address the five‑month conflict with Iran and rising gasoline prices that are worrying Republicans ahead of the November midterm elections.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the gathering is the 13th Cabinet meeting of Trump's second term and described the trip — Trump’s third to Camp David this term — as “a lot of fun and something different for the cabinet to experience together.”
Policy Focus: Foreign Affairs And The Economy
The meeting’s agenda is expected to concentrate on foreign policy, as the administration continues reciprocal strikes on Iranian targets with no clear end in sight to a conflict the president initially predicted would be brief but that has now stretched into its fifth month. A Reuters‑Ipsos poll this week found only one in three Americans support the military campaign, the lowest level recorded in that poll since the conflict began.
Beyond security questions, Cabinet officials are likely to discuss the domestic economic impact of the strikes — especially higher fuel prices — and possible messaging and policy options to blunt political fallout for Republicans in November.
What To Expect From The Meeting
Cabinet meetings under Trump typically run well over an hour as each secretary briefs the president on departmental activity. These sessions often feature extended remarks from both the president and his Cabinet members and are used to coordinate messaging and policy priorities.
After the Camp David meeting, Trump is scheduled to spend the weekend at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club.
