Andrew Giuliani, who leads Mr. Trump’s World Cup task force, told The Telegraph — as reported by The Independent — that the president is “creating a cliffhanger” about whether he will appear at the tournament. Giuliani framed the decision as tactical, noting Trump’s preference for dramatic timing around major public moments.
“I know he’s got a couple of international trips that he has planned as well as Independence Day, so the only thing I’ll tell you about my boss—and I’ve known him for, heck, 30 years, and he’s kind of like an uncle figure to me—he likes a good cliffhanger, right?”
Giuliani added that Trump “likes to leave people watching,” urging supporters and observers to “keep tuned in” as future plans are decided.
Other sporting appearances and outreach
The president has still made time for other high-profile sporting events. He attended Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden in New York City and hosted a public viewing of UFC 250 on the White House lawn earlier this year.
