A Brooklyn mother and her boyfriend have been indicted on murder and related charges after the body of her 3-year-old son was left at a local hospital on March 9, 2025, prosecutors say.
What Happened
The Brooklyn District Attorney's Office says 25-year-old Sunshyne Davis and 39-year-old Robert White brought the body of 3-year-old Kyng Davis to a Brooklyn hospital on March 9. After speaking with hospital staff, the two allegedly left the facility and drove away.
“I heard that some lady [was] bringing in a baby, lifeless,” a hospital employee told PIX11. “And when [hospital staff] tried to get more, asked what happened, she just left. She just took off. She had a car parked, waiting for her. And they just left.”
Allegations and Charges
Prosecutors allege Kyng's death was the result of child abuse, including blunt force trauma and prolonged neglect through starvation and dehydration. Authorities also say Davis and White were living in White's car at the time. Both defendants were indicted on second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child. In an earlier filing, prosecutors additionally charged White with assault, alleging he struck the child in the face multiple times.
Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said the child was allegedly denied basic care and compassion and that, instead of protecting Kyng Davis, the defendants are accused of causing the injuries that led to his death. "We will vigorously prosecute this case to secure justice for Kyng and ensure accountability for this devastating tragedy," Gonzalez said.
