Paris — France is developing a battlefield "kill web" designed to link sensors and weapon systems to accelerate decision‑making and targeting, officials said at the Eurosatory defense show. The initiative draws inspiration from elements of Ukraine's Delta battlefield‑awareness network and will initially be built around the Atlas artillery‑weapon system supplied by Thales.
Arcadia And The Kill Web
General Olivier Coquet, head of the French Army's technical section (STAT), said the kill web will be a component of Arcadia, an AI‑enabled command‑and‑control architecture intended to improve interoperability and enable dynamic targeting. "Just like the Ukrainians are doing we want to set up a kill web as quickly as possible," Coquet told reporters. "In other words, shorten the sensor‑to‑effector loops so we can fire faster and make decisions faster. That's already underway."

How It Compares To Ukraine's Delta
Ukraine's Delta links drones, satellites, artillery and command nodes to create multi‑pathway targeting and real‑time battlefield awareness rather than a single linear kill chain. France says it will adopt similar concepts while leveraging existing programs such as Scorpion, which focuses on digitally connected armored vehicles, and the Thales‑supplied Atlas system for artillery integration.
Interoperability And Combat Clouds
Gen. Philippe de Montenon, commander of French land forces and operations, emphasized that a central objective of Arcadia is interoperability with allied command systems. "This is a major challenge we need to resolve in the very short term, ensuring that what we call our combat clouds can communicate with one another," he said. The French effort aims to ensure allied forces can share targeting data and coordinate engagements more rapidly and flexibly.
Outlook
Officials did not give a full deployment timeline but indicated that initial work is underway and that the kill web will expand from the Atlas core to incorporate additional sensors, platforms and effectors. The program reflects a broader shift among Western militaries toward networked, AI‑enabled targeting to reduce sensor‑to‑shooter timelines.
