Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell, 84, was admitted to a hospital on the morning of Sunday, June 14, his office confirmed.
"Senator McConnell was admitted to the hospital this morning. He is receiving excellent care," spokesperson Stephanie Penn said. The office did not disclose a diagnosis or provide further details.

Recent Hospitalization
This visit comes nearly four months after McConnell spent more than a week under observation in February for so-called "flu-like symptoms." He was admitted on the evening of Feb. 2 and quietly discharged on Feb. 10; his office subsequently said he was feeling better and would work from home while following doctors' advice.

Health History And Context
McConnell's health has drawn public attention in recent years. In 2019 he fractured his shoulder after a fall at his Louisville home. Subsequent reports from NPR, CNN and the BBC say later incidents resulted in a concussion, facial cuts and a fractured rib. He also briefly froze during two press conferences in 2023; the U.S. Capitol physician later cleared him.
In 2024 McConnell stepped down from his role as head of the Senate Republican Conference, a post he had held since 2007, amid opposition from some GOP members aligned with former President Donald Trump.
