Lorenzo Parrotta, 24, from Ludwigshafen won the Contemporary Pizza title at an unofficial world championship in Naples with a pizza featuring purple potato cream, deep-fried savoy cabbage, tuna tartare, pine nuts and lemon caviar. Parrotta operates from a food trailer while working at a chemical plant and says he is the youngest—and the first official German—champion in this category. The Naples competition awarded 16 titles, involved more than 600 chefs from 35 countries, and saw South Korea win the nations' prize.
German Chef Lorenzo Parrotta Wins Contemporary Pizza World Title in Naples

Lorenzo Parrotta, a 24-year-old dual German-Italian from Ludwigshafen, was crowned world champion in the Contemporary Pizza category at a competition held in Naples.
The unofficial world championship, organized by the Association of Neapolitan Pizza Makers, saw Parrotta impress judges with a bold, modern creation: a base finished with purple potato cream, topped with deep-fried savoy cabbage, tuna tartare, pine nuts and droplets of lemon caviar.
Parrotta posted on Instagram that he was crowned "not only as the youngest pizza world champion of all time, but also as the first official German world champion in this category."
Remarkably, Parrotta is not a full-time pizzaiolo. He operates from a food trailer while keeping his day job at a chemical plant, and has said he now plans to open his own restaurant.
