Authorities said a vehicle struck several pedestrians at the Gush Etzion Junction south of Jerusalem on Sunday evening. On Sunday evening a vehicle struck multiple pedestrians at the Gush Etzion Junction in the West Bank, south of Jerusalem. Local emergency services and security forces responded immediately; the suspected attacker was shot dead at the scene, authorities said.
Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that paramedics treated three people at the scene. Two victims were described as in serious condition but conscious. A 17-year-old girl with limb injuries was transferred to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in serious condition. A 15-year-old girl with facial injuries was taken to the same hospital in moderate condition. The third wounded person received on-site care.
The military said soldiers were dispatched to the area and that one soldier shot and killed the suspected attacker. According to the Gush Etzion Regional Council, the same soldier then provided emergency medical treatment to one of the wounded, an action credited with helping to save their life.
“A terrorist tried to run over a group of boys and girls, leaving a number of them injured. The terrorist was killed very quickly by military forces in the area,” said Yaron Rosenthal, head of the Gush Etzion Regional Council.
Israel Police and military units conducted searches around the junction to determine whether other suspects were involved. Authorities temporarily closed the road south toward Kiryat Arba and asked the public to avoid the area while the investigation continued.
Images from the scene were shared by MDA spokespeople. Officials continue to provide updates as victims receive treatment and investigators review the circumstances surrounding the attack.
