Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) sharply criticized Rep. Ilhan Omar on Saturday, calling her a "complete fraud" while discussing disputes over fraud investigations and a recent, dramatic discrepancy in her congressional financial disclosure.
Appearing on "The Big Weekend Show," Emmer said:
"Not only should her accountant be fired, but that girl should be fired and she does not deserve to be in Congress."
He added that if investigators find Omar personally involved in any fraud, or that she benefited from it or obstructed inquiries, "she should be held accountable to the fullest extent."
The controversy stems from an initial financial disclosure that briefly listed Omar and her husband's assets as high as $30 million. That figure prompted Republican scrutiny and attention from a congressional watchdog.

However, an amended filing reviewed by The Wall Street Journal now lists the couple's holdings between $18,004 and $95,000 — a steep reduction from the earlier estimate. Omar's office has denied that she is a millionaire and said the inflated totals resulted from a major accounting error.
Omar spokesperson Jacklyn Rogers told the Journal, "The amended disclosure confirms what we've said all along: The congresswoman is not a millionaire," and added that the form was corrected "as soon as the discrepancy was identified."
House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) also weighed in during a Sunday appearance on "Fox & Friends Weekend," saying he has urged the House Ethics Committee to investigate. Comer noted that Omar has been described as "a person of interest in the Somali fraud," and said the corrected disclosure raises additional questions the Ethics Committee should address.
