"I plan to refer this individual to the @TheJusticeDept for criminal prosecution," Noem wrote on X. "We are agnostic about your standing, tenure, political appointment, or status as a career civil servant—we will track down leakers and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law."

Noem has made rooting out internal leaks a high priority as the current administration pursues a tougher stance on illegal immigration and border enforcement. She said the disclosures put federal law enforcement officers at risk and vowed continued efforts to identify and prosecute leakers regardless of their rank or status.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem on Wednesday said another "prolific leaker" had been caught disclosing information that put federal law enforcement officers at risk.

Weeks after President Trump took office last year, Noem said two Department of Homeland Security employees were accused of revealing details of DHS operations. At that time she warned the leaks were endangering law enforcement personnel and said the agency planned to prosecute the individuals involved.

Noem also asserted that the leaks have led to a sharp increase in threats against DHS officers, citing an alleged 8,000% rise in death threats. Fox News Digital reported it had reached out to DHS for comment about the latest alleged leaker and the claim regarding threats.

Officials have not released the suspect's name or details about the alleged disclosures. The Department of Justice will determine whether criminal charges are appropriate after reviewing the referral.
