Louisiana School Counselor Found Dead On Campus After Alleged Inappropriate Instagram Messages To 14-Year-Old

A 44-year-old Louisiana middle school counselor, Quinton Dixon, was found dead on Jan. 28 in an unused building at Glen Oaks Middle School in Baton Rouge. Authorities describe his death as an apparent suicide while an investigation into allegations against him was underway.
Allegations and Arrest Warrant
Dixon had been placed on administrative leave from Westdale Middle Magnet School roughly two weeks before his death as school officials and police investigated claims that he had exchanged inappropriate messages with a 14-year-old former student on Instagram between November 2025 and January 2026. Court records show a warrant filed the week before his death charged him with four counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile.
Reported Contacts
According to an arrest warrant obtained by PEOPLE, the minor told investigators that an adult male counselor stopped his vehicle beside her, said he recognized her, and asked for her phone number or Instagram handle. The girl later said she began receiving likes and direct messages from the man's account. She identified the man to police as Dixon.
Investigators allege that Dixon responded to a photo the girl posted on Nov. 10, 2025, asked about her sexual orientation, inquired where she lived, and "repeatedly" offered to give her rides home. Police characterized the content of his messages and emojis as "consistent with grooming behavior in pursuit of an intimate relationship with the minor victim," per the warrant.
Community And Official Response
The East Baton Rouge Parish School System confirmed it had been notified of an employee's passing and extended condolences to the school community and the employee's family. The district did not provide additional comment pending the ongoing investigation.
Note: Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding both the alleged communications and Dixon's death. No criminal conviction was recorded at the time of his death; the arrest warrant was filed prior to his being found deceased.
