Former Federal Reserve Governor Kevin Warsh met with President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday, according to a source. A second source said Warsh left a favorable impression as Trump vets candidates to succeed Jerome Powell, whose term ends in May. No selection is final until the president formally announces his pick, expected on Friday.

Jan 29 (Reuters) - Former Federal Reserve Governor Kevin Warsh visited the White House on Thursday for a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, according to one person familiar with the matter.

A second source, who was briefed on the discussion, said Warsh made a favorable impression on the president as Trump evaluates candidates to replace Jerome Powell when the Fed chair's current term expires in May.

The source added that no decision is final until Trump formally names his choice, which is expected on Friday.

Warsh is among several individuals reportedly being vetted for the Federal Reserve’s top job. The White House has not commented publicly on the meeting.
