Ma de La Luz Mejia Rosas, 70, collapsed after riding Universal Studios’ Revenge of the Mummy on Nov. 25, 2025, and died Dec. 9 at Orlando Regional Medical Center. The Orange County Medical Examiner ruled her death a ruptured aneurysm without evidence of trauma. Crump is also representing the family of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, who died in a separate Universal coaster incident in September 2025.
Cause Of Death Confirmed For 70-Year-Old Who Collapsed After Universal’s Revenge of the Mummy Ride

Ma de La Luz Mejia Rosas, 70, who became unresponsive after riding the indoor roller coaster Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios on Nov. 25, 2025, died on Dec. 9, 2025, at Orlando Regional Medical Center, officials and family lawyers said.
Medical Findings and Timeline
According to a report from the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office, Rosas’ cause of death was a ruptured aneurysm without evidence of trauma. A separate report from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services noted that Rosas became unresponsive following the ride on Nov. 25, 2025, and later died at the hospital.
The Medical Examiner’s Office did not immediately respond to requests for additional comment. The timeline and official findings were reported to and reviewed by PEOPLE and the Orlando Sentinel.
Family Statement and Legal Response
Rosas was identified in a statement released by civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who is representing her family. Crump said the family had visited the park "to enjoy time with her children and grandchildren" and are now seeking answers about what happened.
"Mrs. Rosas went to the park to enjoy time with her children and grandchildren, expecting a safe and joyful experience," Crump said. "Instead, her family is now left grieving and searching for answers. We intend to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragedy and ensure her family's voice is heard."
Crump's office has called for transparency about the events before, during and after the ride. Universal Studios did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment for this report; the park previously told PEOPLE it "does not comment on pending claims."
Related Incident At Epic Universe
Ben Crump also represents the family of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, 32, who died in September 2025 after an incident on the Stardust Racer roller coaster at Universal’s Epic Universe. An autopsy concluded Zavala died of "multiple blunt impact injuries," and his death was ruled an accident. Investigators reported that Epic Universe employees appeared to have followed standard operating procedures in that case.
The Rosas family has requested a full investigation and clear answers about the circumstances surrounding her collapse and subsequent death. Officials and legal representatives say they will continue to pursue facts and documentation as available.
