According to a Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services quarterly report updated Jan. 15, a 70-year-old woman became unresponsive after riding the Revenge of the Mummy coaster at Universal Studios Orlando on Nov. 25 and later died. The FDACS entry offers only a brief account and cites privacy rules that prevent follow-up updates. The indoor coaster has 21 reported incidents since 2004 and reaches speeds up to 40 mph with a 39-foot drop. Separate recent lawsuits over injuries at Universal Epic Universe and an earlier death tied to Stardust Racers have increased scrutiny of ride safety.

A 70-year-old woman died after becoming unresponsive following a ride on the indoor roller coaster Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios Orlando on Nov. 25, 2025, according to a quarterly report published by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) and updated Jan. 15.

The FDACS listing, reviewed by PEOPLE, says the woman was transported to a hospital after she became unresponsive and later died. Officials have not released her name or additional medical details.

"Due to privacy-related concerns, the Department does not receive updates to initial assessments of a patron’s condition," the FDACS report states.

A Universal Orlando spokesperson told PEOPLE the company "does not comment on pending claims." The state report itself contains only a brief summary of the incident; FDACS typically provides short, privacy-protective entries in its quarterly rollups covering Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, Sea World, Busch Gardens and Legoland.

Context And Ride History

Public records show 21 incidents have been reported in connection with Revenge of the Mummy since 2004, ranging from dizziness to a reported vertebrae fracture, according to reporting by NBC affiliate WFLA. The indoor coaster reaches speeds of up to 40 mph and features a 39-foot drop, per the Tampa Bay Times.

Related Legal And Safety Coverage

Although unrelated to the Nov. 25 FDACS entry, tensions over ride safety at Universal parks have risen in recent months. In December, five lawsuits were filed in Florida alleging guests suffered "severe and permanent injuries" on the Stardust Racers roller coaster at Universal Epic Universe; the suits name Universal and ride manufacturer Mack Rides and assert negligence and strict product liability claims.

Those legal filings followed the death of 34-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, who became unresponsive after riding Stardust Racers earlier in 2025. An autopsy determined Zavala died from "multiple blunt impact injuries," and the death was ruled an accident by the Orange and Osceola county medical examiner.

At present, few additional public details about the Nov. 25 incident have been released. Local authorities or civil claims could produce more information over time, but FDACS’ privacy policy means follow-up updates are not typically posted in the department’s initial quarterly summaries.

What To Watch For: Investigations by law enforcement, coroner’s offices or regulatory agencies and any civil filings may provide further details about the circumstances of the woman’s collapse and subsequent death.
