The Norwegian Nobel Institute said the Nobel Peace Prize cannot be revoked, transferred or shared, rejecting María Corina Machado’s suggestion that she give or share her award with Donald Trump. Machado praised Trump for a U.S. operation she said led to the capture of Nicolás Maduro, who faces drug-trafficking charges in New York. The institute reiterated the prize decision is final; Machado’s team did not immediately comment.
Nobel Institute Rules Machado Cannot Transfer Her Nobel Peace Prize to Trump

The Norwegian Nobel Institute on Friday dismissed suggestions that Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado could give, share or transfer her newly awarded Nobel Peace Prize to former U.S. President Donald Trump.
“Once the Nobel Peace Prize is announced, it can’t be revoked, transferred or shared,” the institute said in a brief statement. “The decision is final and stands for all time.”
Machado has publicly praised Trump and said she would like to dedicate or share the prize with him. In an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, she described Trump’s role in a U.S. operation she said led to the capture of Venezuela’s president, Nicolás Maduro, and called the action “historic” — a step, she said, toward a democratic transition.
Shortly after the award was announced, Machado dedicated the prize to Trump and to the people of Venezuela. Trump, who has openly sought a Nobel Prize since returning to office, told Hannity he called Machado a “very nice woman” but questioned whether she currently has enough domestic support to govern. He also said Machado plans to visit next week and described the idea of offering the prize to him as a “great honor.”
The institute’s clarification makes clear that, under Nobel rules, laureates cannot reassign or divide their awards. Machado’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Context
Reports referenced in the interview say Nicolás Maduro faces drug-trafficking charges in New York. Machado’s characterization of U.S. involvement in Maduro’s capture reflects her perspective as a Venezuelan opposition leader; independent verification and official sources should be consulted for full confirmation of operational details.
