A 14-year-old female student fell from an elevated position at The Chapin School on Wednesday, Dec. 17, and later died at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, the New York Police Department confirmed.
Police responded to a 911 call at the school's Upper East Side campus at 100 East End Avenue. "Upon arrival, officers observed a 14-year-old female at the above location with injuries indicative of falling from an elevated position," an NYPD representative said. Emergency Medical Services transported the student to the hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death. The NYPD said there have been no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
