Two Teens Killed, Another Critically Injured After Pickup Plunges 30 Feet Into Oklahoma Creek

Two teenage girls were killed and two others injured when a pickup truck left a rural Oklahoma road and fell about 30 feet into a creek bed on the night of Dec. 15, authorities said.
Crash Details
The crash occurred just after 8 p.m. local time on Monday, Dec. 15, on Charter Oak Road near May Avenue in Logan County, according to Lt. Mark Southall of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The pickup left the roadway, struck a bridge guardrail and plunged into a ravine and creek bed below.
Two female passengers, ages 14 and 16, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 17-year-old, and another 16-year-old passenger survived but were injured; one of the survivors remains in critical condition, officials said. The Highway Patrol said not all occupants were wearing seat belts, according to the crash report and local outlets.
“One is critical, and that could change for better or worse at any given time, and the fourth has minor injuries,” Southall told ABC affiliate KOCO. “It’s a heartbreaking experience, situation, especially this close to Christmas. This really is the worst-case scenario.”
Victims, School And Family Statements
Authorities have not released official victim names because they are juveniles. However, a mother later identified one of the deceased as Jazlynn Jacobs, and local outlets reported the critically injured student as London Mitchell. All four teens attended Deer Creek High School in Edmond.
Mitchell’s family asked for prayers as she fights to recover. In a statement shared with local media, the family said they were heartbroken for the Deer Creek families who lost their daughters and expressed gratitude for the support and prayers from the community.
The Deer Creek School District issued condolences and said support services are available for students and staff. At a basketball game on Dec. 16, students observed a moment of silence to mourn the victims.
Investigation
Investigators continue to determine what caused the pickup to leave the road. Officials have not released further details pending the ongoing investigation.
Note: This report reflects information released by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and local news outlets. Names of juvenile victims have been handled with sensitivity; one family chose to publicly identify their child.
