Man Killed When Pickup Truck Plows Into Ground-Floor Apartment in Fort Worth

A 39-year-old man, Raidel Liranza Alvarez, died after a red pickup truck left the roadway and crashed into his ground-level apartment in Fort Worth, Texas, on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025. Fort Worth Police described the collision as a major crash and confirmed Alvarez was struck and later died as a result of the impact.

Officers were called to the scene at about 6:25 p.m.

"He was pinned in his vehicle. We did do some initial interviews with this individual. There were no signs of impairment, no signs of intoxication," Officer Buddy Calzada of the Fort Worth Police Department told Fox 4.

Investigators are examining the vehicle and the scene to determine whether mechanical failure, excessive speed or other factors caused the driver to lose control. FWPD spokesperson Daniel Segura told NBC DFW that investigators will collect evidence from the truck, interview any witnesses who actually saw the collision, and search for video footage in the area to reconstruct what happened.

"The speed of the vehicle, what caused that vehicle to lose control and hit the building," Segura said. "We have other ways and tools to help us with that investigation."

Neighbors described the scene as shocking and expressed grief. "I’m very sad … I’m confused," neighbor Angela Kimberling told KVUE. Donna Phillips called Alvarez "a tragic loss for such a good person," saying he was like a son to her and always willing to help.

Alvarez's sister, Lorena Garcia, who was reportedly his only close family member in the state, has launched a GoFundMe to raise money for funeral expenses. The fundraiser notes that Alvarez passed away on December 2, 2025, and asks for assistance so the family can arrange a proper goodbye.

The Fort Worth Police Department continues its active investigation into the crash. Authorities are seeking witnesses and any available video footage from the area to determine the cause.
