The Boulder Police Department is asking the public’s help to identify the owner of a silver wedding band found Nov. 8 in the Gondolier Italian Eatery parking lot near Baseline Road and Foothills Parkway. The ring, turned in to police on Nov. 17, is engraved with the wedding date "June 6, 1953" and the couple's initials — a mark that would represent 72 years of marriage this year. Authorities posted the appeal on Dec. 15 and asked anyone with information to contact the Property and Evidence Unit at 303-441-3340.

Police in Boulder, Colorado, are asking the public for help identifying the owner of a vintage wedding band found in a restaurant parking lot.

What Happened

A community member discovered a silver-colored wedding ring on Nov. 8 in the parking lot of the Gondolier Italian Eatery near Baseline Road and Foothills Parkway. After trying to locate the owner on social media without success, the finder turned the ring over to the Boulder Police Department on Nov. 17.

Details About The Ring

The ring is described as silver and bears an engraving inside with the wedding date "June 6, 1953" along with the couple's initials — a detail that would mark 72 years of marriage this year. The Boulder Police Department noted the sentimental value the band likely holds and called it “an amazing and loving story told in one part by this traditional symbol.”

“We think [the ring] means a lot to that couple, and we’d like to return it to them if possible, so we’re asking for our community’s help. We’re hoping for a Christmas miracle,” the BPD wrote on social media.

How To Help

Anyone with information about the ring or its owner is asked to contact the Boulder Police Department's Property and Evidence Unit at 303-441-3340. Community tips may help reunite the band with the couple or their family in time for the holidays.

Reported by the Boulder Police Department; initial social post published Dec. 15. Ring found Nov. 8; turned in Nov. 17.
