A multi‑vehicle crash involving approximately 45 vehicles occurred on the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Terre Haute, Indiana, shortly before 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, Indiana State Police Public Information Officer Matt Ames said. Officials reported no major injuries.

The collision happened amid snowy conditions. In a Facebook Live update, Ames described the chaotic scene and said crews were also responding to multiple "slide‑offs" on the eastbound side of the highway as motorists struggled with slick roads. Authorities cleared the crash about five hours later, though snowfall resumed in the area that evening.

"Number one — if you don't have to make any unnecessary trips, please stay home this evening so the roads can improve tomorrow," Ames advised. He also urged drivers who must travel to use headlights, buckle up, avoid distractions, reduce speed and increase following distance in winter conditions.

Local forecasts called for an estimated 1 to 3 inches of snow on Nov. 29, with continued snow, sleet and rain expected overnight, according to AccuWeather. Motorists are encouraged to monitor road and weather updates, allow extra travel time, and follow instructions from emergency responders and road crews.
