Deputies say the incident occurred on Sept. 21 at about 2:34 p.m. near mile marker 183 and was tied to a failed drug transaction, according to a post on the Montgomery County, Mo., Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
What Happened
Dashcam footage released by authorities shows deputies locating the Jeep and attempting a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop; instead, it accelerated beyond 110 mph and weaved dangerously between lanes as deputies pursued. The chase ended when the Jeep drove through a construction zone marked by orange cones, hit an unfinished section of roadway, became airborne, and was left disabled.
Arrests and Evidence
Officers quickly surrounded the disabled vehicle and arrested two occupants at the scene — a 17-year-old male and a 14-year-old male. The driver, a 17-year-old male, fled on foot carrying what deputies believed to be a firearm. With assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the Warrenton Police Department, deputies located the fleeing suspect hiding in a lagoon and took him into custody.
A search of the Jeep turned up a magazine on the floorboard with two rounds remaining. Deputies reported that the intended victim’s car sustained nine bullet holes in the rear, and a second vehicle was struck when a round passed through a window and into the driver’s seat. Authorities said there were no reported injuries.
Next Steps
The three minors were transported to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and remanded to the Juvenile Division. The sheriff’s office post did not release the youths’ names or list specific charges; the investigation remains active.
