Annapolis Man Arrested After Allegedly Pointing Gun at 12-Year-Old Carolers

Three 12-year-old girls who were caroling door-to-door in Annapolis reportedly fled after a neighbor, identified as 58-year-old Paul Brian Susie, allegedly drew a handgun at a bay window. A parent called police; officers say Susie admitted to pulling the gun, was intoxicated at the time of arrest, and the weapon was recovered. He faces first- and second-degree assault charges, was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond, and is due back in court in December.

A 58-year-old Annapolis man has been arrested after police say he pointed a handgun at three 12-year-old girls who were singing Christmas carols door-to-door in his neighborhood on the evening of Nov. 22.

Authorities identified the suspect as Paul Brian Susie. According to court records, the girls knocked on Susie's door twice and announced they were caroling. Prosecutors allege Susie walked to a bay window, drew a firearm, and aimed it in their direction, prompting the girls to run away. A parent then contacted police.

When officers arrived, they say Susie and his wife were watching television. Officers allege Susie was intoxicated and "belligerent" at the time of arrest and that he admitted to pulling the gun on the children. Police recovered the firearm at the scene.

"It's an assault because pointing a handgun at an individual is a threat of violence against that individual, a threat to their safety," said Anne Arundel County Police spokesperson Marc Limansky.

Susie was booked into the Anne Arundel County detention facility and charged with first- and second-degree assault. He was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond and is expected to appear in court in December. The investigation remains active as prosecutors proceed with the assault charges.

Note: These are allegations. Susie is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
