Lyft Rider Pins Wrong Location, Launches Racist Tirade at Driver After Drop-Off

Accidentally selecting the wrong drop-off point when booking a rideshare is a common error — but it never justifies verbal abuse or racial attacks. A Lyft driver in Idaho says a passenger verbally assaulted her after she dropped him off at the pin he had entered in the app, then blamed her for the mistake and launched a racist tirade.
The episode was posted to TikTok by Cultura Inmigrante (@cultura_inmigrante) and has drawn more than 2.6 million views. According to the video, the confrontation occurred near Eagle, Idaho, when the passenger returned to the vehicle after realizing he was not at his intended destination.
“You\'re a f****** Mexican piece of s***,” the unnamed passenger yelled, repeatedly accusing the driver and giving her the middle finger. He also shouted, “You\'re supposed to take me to Eagle.”
The driver told the man she had driven to the exact location he had pinned in the Lyft app and asked him to check his ride details. The passenger refused to accept responsibility, continued hurling racist insults, and — the driver said — appeared intoxicated and had behaved disruptively during the trip, including pushing and hitting her seat.
Feeling threatened, the driver began recording the encounter and called 911. She remained on the line with dispatch while waiting for authorities and continued filming to preserve evidence for a police report. The video captures the passenger exiting the vehicle and continuing his abusive tirade.
It is not clear from the available footage what happened after law enforcement arrived or how far the passenger\'s intended destination was from the pinned drop-off. The incident, however, joins other reported episodes of anti-Hispanic hostility — including a separate case in Illinois where a man allegedly threatened Hispanic workers after refusing to pay for services.
Public Reaction
Viewers of the viral clip overwhelmingly condemned the passenger. Many demanded his identity and urged consequences: “How disgusting!!! We need to find this guy ASAP!” one commenter wrote. Others noted the man assumed the driver was Mexican despite the many nationalities represented within the Hispanic community. Several people pointed out that viral videos have precedent for leading to employment consequences for perpetrators.
Takeaway: The video highlights risks that drivers, particularly those from minority communities, can face on the job and underscores the importance of documenting incidents and involving law enforcement when a driver feels unsafe.
