Iran has put off renewing financial aid to Hamas after telling a senior Hamas delegation in early September that it was dissatisfied with the group's failure to influence security in the West Bank. Hamas envoys met Iranian officials, including Abbas Araghchi and Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, and requested funds that Tehran says are frozen amid budget 'stress.'

Israeli authorities say West Bank violence is at its lowest since 2011, crediting coordinated operations by the Judea and Samaria Division, Shin Bet and police, even as the IDF reinforced the area with roughly 25 battalions amid concerns over potential attacks.

Iran has delayed approving a renewal of financial assistance to Hamas, KAN News reported, saying Tehran is dissatisfied with the group's inability to erode overall security in the West Bank.

According to the KAN account, a senior Hamas delegation visited Tehran in early September and met with high-ranking Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf. The delegation asked Tehran to resume funding that had been frozen earlier amid reported budget 'stress.'

A Palestinian source quoted by KAN said Iran expressed 'dissatisfaction' with Hamas's performance in influencing events in the West Bank and stopped short of committing to restart payments.

Security Situation And Israeli Response

Israeli officials in mid-September said violence in the West Bank had fallen to its lowest levels since 2011, and credited coordinated security work by the Judea and Samaria Division under Brig.-Gen. Kobi Heller, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), Israel Police and Border Police for the decline.

In the run-up to recent Jewish holidays, the Judea and Samaria Division conducted preventive operations targeting suspected attackers and networks accused of incitement to reduce the risk of attacks.

Despite the reduced pace of attacks, the IDF recently bolstered its West Bank presence to about 25 battalions amid growing tensions and concerns about both lone-wolf attacks and organized terrorist infrastructure. A divisional headquarters responsible for the Judea and Etzion regional brigades was also deployed to the area to coordinate operations.

One military official told Walla: 'All it would take is a friction incident between Palestinians and Israelis that spirals out of control, is caught on video, and ignites the area.'

The developments come amid reports of several recent instances of settler violence in the West Bank.
