Local outlet Index reported the incident followed a falling-out between the students a day earlier. Video from outside the school showed police cordoning off the building as officers conducted their inquiry.
The attack renewed public concern after a December 2024 incident in Zagreb when a knife-wielding former pupil killed a 7-year-old girl and wounded three other children and a teacher. That earlier assault led many schools in the city and beyond to hire guards and increase security to limit unauthorized access.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved. Police continue their investigation, and school officials are cooperating as they review safety procedures and support students and staff affected by the event.
