Pope Francis’ Final Book ‘Hope, Unfailing’ — English Edition Arrives Nov. 24

Pope Francis’ final book, Hope, Unfailing, will be published in English on Nov. 24 by Measure Publishing LLC. First released in Italian as La speranza non delude mai, the 176-page volume offers what the publisher describes as the late pontiff’s last reflections on hope, faith and the human condition amid war, rapid technological change and social uncertainty.
About the Book
The English-language edition includes an eight-page color photo insert and a selection of quotations and citations that illuminate Francis’ optimistic message. The book frames hope as an antidote to despair and invites readers to join what Francis called a “pilgrimage of hope.” Its topics span family, education, immigration, geopolitics, climate change, artificial intelligence and the pursuit of peace.
"Pope Francis held that hope is before us in its many manifestations, discoverable, if we seek to be strengthened by it," publisher Steve Acunto said. He highlighted everyday scenes—"a mother carrying new life, a poor person believing in the future, a refugee seeking a better tomorrow, people praying for soldiers to return safely, and a pensioner and a child, walking hand in hand, free and safe."
Context and Legacy
Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires in 1936, Francis became the first Latin American and first Jesuit pope when elected in March 2013. He died on April 21, 2025, at age 88, concluding a 12-year papacy. Hope, Unfailing follows a string of internationally read works by Francis, including his 2024 memoir Life: My Story Through History and the 2025 Hope: The Autobiography, coauthored with Carlo Musso, which was published in more than 80 countries and became a New York Times bestseller.
Acunto says the new volume gives readers a final opportunity to encounter Francis’ distinctive spiritual vision and to be guided toward hope in a time when despair is easy to find.
