What initially read like a scene from a dark comedy unfolded in real life in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, in the early hours of Aug. 4. Authorities say a woman stole a Pleasant Prairie Fire Department pickup from Station 3, activated its emergency lights, made unauthorized radio transmissions and was later found driving the vehicle unclothed.
Incident Details
Police identified the driver as 36-year-old Emily Annmarie Fair. According to court records and body-camera footage reported by WTMJ and WISN, dispatchers soon picked up unauthorized radio traffic from the vehicle, including calls of "Brennan, do you read me?" and requests for food.
Officers located the pickup and made contact with Fair. The criminal complaint cited by WTMJ says Fair asked an officer, "Are you following me or am I following you?" before driving away. When the truck was located a second time, court documents state Fair was "completely unclothed" behind the wheel. Body-camera footage shown by WISN captures officers asking why she was driving and why she lacked clothing; Fair replied she was a firefighter and said she was "supposed to meet someone."
Officers recovered Fair's dress in the bed of the pickup before escorting her for medical evaluation and then taking her into custody. Records from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office show she was booked into the Kenosha County Jail by the Pleasant Prairie Police Department at 4:45 a.m.
Charges, Bond and Next Steps
Jail records list charges of felony take-and-drive (vehicle taken without consent) and first-offense operating while intoxicated (OUI). Total bond was set at $200. WISN reported Fair is scheduled for a competency hearing on Aug. 26. If convicted on the vehicle charge, she could face up to six years in prison or a fine of up to $10,000.
