What Was Recalled
The recall covers aluminum- and wood-framed attic ladders with gas struts, handrails and folding attic doors sold under the Louisville, Featherlite, Lite and Century brand names. Only ladders equipped with gas struts are included in this recall.

Scope and Where They Were Sold
Manufactured in Mexico, the affected ladders were sold nationwide from November 2012 through July 2026 with retail prices ranging from $170 to $600. They were available at major retailers including Home Depot, Lowe's, Do It Best, Orgill, Amazon and other stores across the United States.
Why They Were Recalled
Louisville Ladder, Inc. told the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission that the 1/4-inch spreader bolts can break. If a bolt fails while someone is on the ladder, the user could fall and suffer serious injury or death. The company has received 11 reports of bolt failures, including one report of a person who injured their neck, head and back.

Affected ladders were sold in widths of 22.5", 25.5" and 30" and lengths of 54" and 60", designed for ceiling heights from 7'8" to 12'.
