Missile Strike Destroys Lviv Craft Winery Axis Wine — Owners Launch Fundraiser to Rebuild

A Russian missile strike on Thursday night completely destroyed the production facilities of Axis Wine, a small craft winery based in Lviv, wiping out the company's operations and prompting a public fundraising campaign to rebuild, local outlets reported.
Axis Wine said its production site was razed in the attack. Authorities and the company continue to assess the full scale of the damage, including losses to equipment, stored inventory and infrastructure needed to resume production.
"In addition to apartments in high-rise buildings, the Russians destroyed another terrifyingly dangerous military target in Lviv: the Axis Wines winery, which produces Lviv wine from Odesa grapes," wrote Ukrainian food and wine researcher Vsevolod Polishchuk on Facebook in a sardonic post.
The winery — founded by Dmytro Kopiy and Serhiy Urbanovskyi — released its first vintage in 2017 and received an official small-producer license in late 2021. According to UA.News, Axis Wine produced roughly 4,000 bottles a year (about 5,000 liters), blending classic European varieties with Ukrainian grapes sourced from the Bessarabia region.
Company filings indicate Axis Wine reported revenue of 551,500 Ukrainian hryvnias (about US$12,360) in 2025, with assets valued at approximately 1.84 million hryvnias (about US$41,240). The owners have launched a public fundraiser to help restore facilities and resume production.
Wider Impact on Lviv
The destruction of the winery came amid a broader missile assault on Lviv that damaged residential buildings and gas infrastructure across the city. Local officials said gas networks were struck during the attack, temporarily cutting service for around 120 households, and they reported casualties from the strikes. Emergency services and city authorities are continuing damage assessments and recovery work.
Initial reporting on the winery's destruction was carried by The New Voice of Ukraine, with follow-up details published by UA.News. Axis Wine and local officials are pleading for support as they quantify losses and plan reconstruction.
