Russian strikes across multiple Ukrainian regions killed at least eight people and injured dozens in the last 24 hours. Attacks were reported in Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Sumy, and officials in Zaporizhzhia said Russian forces carried out more than 1,000 strikes across 50 settlements. Kyiv also warned Moscow is seeking to bring in up to 30,000 North Korean troops and additional missile launchers—a development Zelenskyy described as a wider regional threat. Kazakhstan's president urged an end to the war, prompting praise from Kyiv and rejection from the Kremlin.
Russian Strikes Kill At Least Eight Across Ukraine In 24 Hours; Kyiv Warns Of North Korean Reinforcements

At least eight people have been killed and dozens more wounded in a fresh wave of Russian attacks across Ukraine in the past 24 hours, officials said.
Casualties and Damage
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a drone strike on Kharkiv on Sunday killed one person and wounded nine, damaging residential buildings. "All the necessary emergency services have been deployed at the site," he said.
Local authorities in Dnipropetrovsk region reported two women, aged 35 and 74, were killed after Russian strikes hit three districts using drones, artillery and aerial bombs.
In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, officials reported one dead and 12 wounded. Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, said Russian forces carried out an extraordinary number of strikes — reporting 1,029 strikes across 50 settlements in the region in a single day — and later said there were additional reports of a further fatality.
Authorities in Kherson Oblast said two people were killed and 24 injured over the weekend. Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson regional administration, wrote on Telegram that Russian attacks struck critical and social infrastructure and residential areas, damaging 18 apartment blocks and 17 private houses and destroying a church, petrol station, shops, gas pipelines, a farm building, garages and vehicles.
In Sumy Oblast, regional reports said a 53-year-old man was killed and eight people were wounded following attacks. Ukrainian authorities also reported a strike on a shopping centre in Kryvyi Rih, where a fire broke out at an Epitsentr DIY store.
Diplomatic and Regional Developments
Separately, Kazakhstan's President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev reportedly told Russian President Vladimir Putin that the war should end, saying: "It is a shame, young people are dying... All this has to be stopped," according to AFP. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha thanked Toqayev for his "realistic, timely, and wise message." Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed the suggestion, telling Interfax it is "impossible" to freeze the conflict at present.
Warnings On North Korean Involvement
President Zelenskyy warned in a video address that Moscow is seeking to bring another 30,000 North Korean troops to support Russian operations and that Pyongyang is reportedly considering sending additional ballistic missile launchers. "This is a threat not only to Ukraine," Zelenskyy said, adding that Russia is helping North Korea gain combat experience and improve its weapons — a danger to all countries within range of North Korean missiles. North Korean personnel were first reported deployed to support Russia in the autumn of 2024.
