News outlet Axios reported that the talks could explore forming an international coalition to protect commercial shipping transiting the strait. Defence ministers and senior military commanders from Western and regional countries are expected to attend, Axios said, citing European diplomats.
The report also named US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and US Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Dan Caine as possible participants, although neither attendance nor the final guest list has been confirmed by officials.
