A manhunt is underway after a gunman opened fire during a family-oriented community event at Stop Six Park in Fort Worth, Texas, late Saturday, leaving four people injured, authorities said.
The Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) reported the shooting occurred just after 9 p.m. According to investigators and witnesses, the suspect—described as wearing all black—emerged from the area between a strip of businesses and a nearby apartment complex on the park's east side, fired indiscriminately into the crowd, and fled on foot toward the apartments.
Victims and Injuries
The FWPD provided the following updates on those hurt:
- Adult female: Gunshot wound to the head; hospitalized and in critical condition.
- Fort Worth police officer: Shrapnel wounds to the neck after a bullet pierced his patrol car windshield; hospitalized with non-life‑threatening injuries.
- Child: Graze wound to the head from a bullet; treated and listed as non-life‑threatening.
- Elderly female: Gunshot wound to the hip; self-transported to a hospital and is reported stable.
Investigation
The FWPD Major Case Unit has taken the lead on the investigation. Authorities said no motive has been established and stressed the shooting appeared to be random, warning that a threat to public safety may remain while the suspect is at large.
