Authorities arrested a man Saturday at Trump Doral National Golf Club in Miami after he became disruptive and made physical contact with a Secret Service agent, a federal official said.
The incident occurred about 4:15 p.m. at a security screening area staffed by Secret Service personnel and local police. Acting Special Agent in Charge Michael Townsend of the Secret Service's Miami field office said the individual "became disruptive and failed to comply with lawful orders" before making "physical contact" with an agent.
The suspect was taken into custody by local officers. The Doral Police Department charged him with disorderly conduct and resisting without violence; police reported he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami. No additional details about the suspect or motive were released.
Security posture unaffected: "At no point did this situation impact the established security posture for any upcoming visits to Trump Doral National Golf Club by Secret Service protectees," Townsend said.
The arrest comes a week after a separate security breach in Washington, D.C., where an armed man reportedly rushed past security at a press gala attended by President Trump and several cabinet members. That suspect, identified as Cole Allen, faces charges that include attempting to assassinate the president.
President Trump was not on the property at the time of the Doral incident. Authorities said the matter was handled quickly and did not appear to pose an ongoing threat to protected visitors.
