Pollster: Trump’s Inflation Approval 'Literally Broke the Scale' as New Survey Shows Big Declines

Pollster G. Elliott Morris said a recent Strength In Numbers/Verasight poll showed President Donald Trump’s approval on inflation and the cost of living fell so dramatically that it "literally broke the scale" on his data portal, prompting a redesign of the chart to display the lower values.

Key Findings From the April Poll

The Strength In Numbers/Verasight survey was conducted April 10–14 and carries a margin of error of ±2.6 percentage points. As of April 30, the poll shows Trump’s approval on managing inflation and the cost of living is 40.3 percentage points underwater.

The survey also found that 55% of U.S. adults now support impeaching Trump, while 37% oppose impeachment and 8% are unsure. Notably, roughly one in five people who voted for Trump in 2024 said they now back impeachment.

Factors Behind the Decline

Respondents pointed to several developments that have eroded support: the administration’s immigration policies, public criticism over the handling of the Epstein files, and weakening confidence in Trump's stewardship of the economy. Recent social media posts and comments about the conflict with Iran have intensified scrutiny — with some reporters publicly questioning his mental fitness and critics accusing him of advocating actions that could be unlawful in wartime.
