A security breach near the White House led to an arrest Tuesday while King Charles III and Queen Camilla were visiting Washington, D.C., officials said.
A U.S. Secret Service spokesperson told Fox News Digital that agents detained and formally arrested a person who bypassed a security barrier near The Ellipse, the park area commonly referred to as President's Park South. Criminal charges are pending as the investigation continues.

Authorities have not released the suspect’s identity or a possible motive. It also remains unclear whether any weapons were involved in the incident; investigators have not commented publicly about the presence or absence of arms.
The Secret Service said enhanced security postures remain in effect on and around the White House complex while the state visit is underway. King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived in Washington on Monday and the royal delegation’s schedule includes stops in New York and Virginia after the capital visit.

The arrest occurred less than 48 hours after an unrelated shooting at the Washington Hilton during the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. Authorities identified the alleged hotel shooter as Cole Allen, 31, of Torrance, California. Prosecutors say Allen faces multiple charges, including attempting to assassinate the president, transporting a firearm across state lines and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence; those allegations are subject to formal filing and further legal review.
Secret Service officials have not suggested any direct link between the Ellipse barrier breach and the Washington Hilton shooting. Investigators continue to gather evidence and review security footage as part of both ongoing inquiries.
