Roper had been sought for nearly six years in connection with an August 2020 shooting in Missouri in which multiple rounds were fired at a vehicle, striking two women and killing one. The FBI said it added Roper to the list on Tuesday, and tips began arriving to its National Threat Operations Center (NTOC) the following morning.

According to officials, tipsters in Florida reported seeing a person matching Roper’s description rapidly packing a vehicle. Partners across federal, state and local agencies coordinated using the vehicle description and location information, conducted a traffic stop and took Roper into custody. She was booked into the Alachua County Jail.

Roper faces state charges in Missouri, including second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon, along with a federal charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. FBI Director Kash Patel also noted that eight fugitives from the agency’s most-wanted lists have been captured in just over a year — a rate he said is more than double the previous four years combined.
Patel praised the coordinated work of FBI Kansas City, FBI Jacksonville and state and local partners in Florida and Missouri for their roles in locating and arresting Roper.
