Mace: 'Pam Bondi Cannot Escape Accountability' — Ex-AG Must Testify on Epstein Files

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) said Wednesday that former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi remains obligated to testify before the House Oversight Committee about the handling of files related to Jeffrey Epstein, rejecting a committee spokesman's suggestion that Bondi was no longer required to appear.

"Pam Bondi cannot escape accountability simply because she no longer holds the office of Attorney General. Our motion to subpoena Pam Bondi, which was passed by the Oversight Committee, was for Bondi by name, not by title,"

Mace wrote on social media.

Mace added that Bondi is expected to appear for a sworn deposition and that the American public deserves answers. She and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) sent a joint letter to Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) to "make clear former Attorney General Pam Bondi remains obligated to comply" with the subpoena.

Speaking to CNN, Mace said she believes she can marshal enough votes on the committee to compel Bondi to testify even if Chairman Comer attempts to cancel the deposition. "I’m not backing away from that or backing down from that," Mace said, arguing there remain serious questions about how Bondi's office handled Epstein-related matters and that Bondi may have information important to the committee's review.

The subpoena was approved by the House Oversight Committee and names Bondi specifically; however, a formal deposition date has not been set. The dispute highlights tensions within the committee over enforcement of subpoenas and how to proceed with witness testimony in the investigation.
