TUCSON, Ariz. — Authorities investigating the disappearance of 84‑year‑old Nancy Guthrie, the mother of "Today" host Savannah Guthrie, say they have not ruled out the involvement of more than one person.

Surveillance video from Guthrie’s Nest doorbell camera shows a masked man manipulating the device on her front doorstep around the time she vanished, officials say. The FBI also released a still image from the same camera that appears to show a similar figure but without a visible backpack or holster, prompting questions about whether the still depicts a second person.

Evidence Raising Questions
Additional footage obtained by the Fox Flight Team reportedly shows what appear to be smashed floodlights at the rear of the property. Retired Las Vegas Police Lieutenant Randy Sutton, founder of The Wounded Blue, said disabling exterior lights is a known tactic to avoid creating silhouettes outside a home.

"You would break those floodlights so as not to be silhouetted," Sutton told Fox News Digital. "It’s a common thing."
Retired NYPD Sergeant and criminal justice professor Joseph Giacalone noted a blood trail on Guthrie’s front steps and said that a nearby vehicle and multiple suspects would be consistent with that trace. "My theory was that they had to have a vehicle around the corner to pick them up," he told Fox News Digital.

Official Description and Ongoing Leads
The FBI described the person captured in the surveillance images and video as a male roughly 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with an average build. The only item of clothing officially identified in released footage is a black, 25‑liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack carried by the individual seen on video.
Guthrie is believed to have been abducted from her home at about 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 1. To date, no suspects, persons of interest or vehicles have been publicly identified. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Investigators continue to pursue technical leads, with suggestions from experts to check for nearby Wi‑Fi connections, router logs, and possible radio or walkie‑talkie signals that could help establish movement or coordination among suspects.
