Two people have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 14-year-old high school football player Jeremy “Tank” Rosales in Victorville, California.
Arrests and Charges: The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department says 27-year-old Abel Ramirez and a 16-year-old male juvenile were taken into custody on Feb. 2. Ramirez is being held at the High Desert Detention Center on $1 million bail; the juvenile suspect is in the High Desert Juvenile Detention Center. Both face murder-related charges as the investigation continues.
Shooting and Immediate Response
According to the sheriff-coroner’s office, the shooting occurred on Jan. 16 just before 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Glen Canyon Lane and Burwood Avenue. Sheriff’s dispatchers received multiple calls reporting numerous gunshots. Responding officers found Rosales suffering from gunshot wounds; he was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.

Jeremy Rosales, known as “Tank,” was a 14-year-old student at Oak Hills High School who trained with Team Elite Sports Academy. Coach Elliott Reyes told KTLA that Rosales had "developed a great name in the trenches because he was such a beast," praising his dedication in the weight room and on the field. Reyes also remembered him as a hardworking, model student.
"He was a great kid with an infectious smile, a loyal teammate, and a brother to so many who stood beside him on the field," a GoFundMe tribute said. "His loss has shaken our community to its core."
Community Response and Support
A GoFundMe page was created to help the family with funeral expenses and to share remembrances of Rosales. Community members, teammates and coaches have expressed shock and grief over the boy’s death.
