Probable Cause Found After West Virginia Woman Arrested Over TikTok Caption Allegedly Advocating Assassination of Trump

A Jackson County magistrate in West Virginia on Monday found probable cause against Morgan Morrow, 39, of Ripley, after she was arrested in connection with a TikTok post authorities say advocated violence toward a public official.
Arrest and Charges
Morrow was arrested Jan. 25 and booked on a charge of threats of terroristic acts, according to court records. Deputies say a criminal complaint identified an alleged threat of violence "directed toward an unknown individual, which was believed to be a public official." The complaint quotes the TikTok caption: "Surely a sn!per [sniper] with a terminal illness can\'t be a big ask out of 343 million." Authorities say they reviewed the post's content, context and wording and interpreted it as encouraging and advocating the assassination of President Trump.
Bail, Conditions And Custody Status
Morrow was initially taken to the South Central Regional Jail (SCRJ) on a $75,000 surety/cash bond. At Monday\'s magistrate hearing, the court reduced her bond to $25,000 and ordered conditions including home confinement and a prohibition on social media use. As of 3:50 p.m. Monday, Morrow remained listed as being held at the South Central Regional Jail on the West Virginia Regional Jail & Correctional Facility Authority\'s website.
Legal Note: A finding of probable cause is not a conviction. It means a magistrate determined there is sufficient evidence to proceed with criminal charges; the case will continue through the local court process.
More details may become available as the case proceeds through Jackson County Magistrate Court and any subsequent hearings.
