Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu arrived in China to meet Foreign Minister Wang Yi and discuss developments in international and regional security, the Security Council said. Interfax quoted the council saying the talks will focus on a changing security environment. The visit comes as parallel Russia‑Ukraine‑U.S. discussions seek to end the nearly four‑year conflict; Shoigu last met Wang in Moscow in December.

MOSCOW, Feb 1 (Reuters) — Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu arrived in China on Sunday to meet Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and discuss developments in international and regional security, Russian media quoted the Security Council as saying.

Purpose of the Visit

"The sides will discuss the changing situation in the sphere of international and regional security," Interfax quoted the Security Council as saying.

The visit comes as separate talks involving Russian, Ukrainian and U.S. officials aim to find a diplomatic path toward ending the nearly four‑year conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Shoigu previously met Wang in Moscow in December.
