Andrew Yang says excerpts from his forthcoming book claim Vice President Kamala Harris' 2024 campaign placed him on a blacklist after he urged Joe Biden to step aside following a debate with Donald Trump. Yang says he was barred from campaign engagement but still endorsed Harris and criticized the move as symptomatic of a wider cultural problem within the Democratic Party. He also recounts that CNN rescinded contributor talks in 2021 because he planned to form and lead a political party, and he hints at a likely 2028 run under the Forward Party.
Andrew Yang Says Kamala Harris' 2024 Campaign Put Him On A Blacklist — He Teases Possible 2028 Run

Andrew Yang, the former Democratic presidential candidate turned independent, says excerpts from his forthcoming book, Hey Yang, Where's My Thousand Bucks?, claim that Vice President Kamala Harris' 2024 campaign placed his name on a blacklist that prevented him from engaging with the campaign.
Blacklisted After Urging Biden To Step Aside
Yang told the U.K. newspaper The Times that his exclusion followed public comments urging President Joe Biden to step down after his debate with Donald Trump. According to the book excerpts, Yang says Harris' team "had put me on a list of people not to use or refer to, due to the fact that I’d 'crossed the line' in my disrespect of Joe Biden."
"Kamala Harris’s campaign had put me on a list of people not to use or refer to, due to the fact that I’d 'crossed the line' in my disrespect of Joe Biden," Yang wrote. "So dumb. I was kind of glad, to be honest, because if they’d asked me to do something, I would have felt honor bound to comply, but I don’t know how convincing I would have been."
Despite claiming he was excluded, Yang says he ultimately endorsed Harris for president and criticized the decision to avoid him as a symptom of a broader cultural problem within the Democratic Party. He argues campaigns should prioritize winning votes over rigid loyalty tests: "If you’re trying your best to win, who cares what I said four weeks ago? Use anyone who might move votes."
Media Fallout And Party Fractures
Yang also recounts that a planned role as a CNN contributor was rescinded in 2021 after he registered as an independent. He writes that his agent told him CNN backed away because it did not want to be seen supporting a third party. CNN told Fox News Digital that negotiations ended because Yang intended to launch and lead a political party, which the network said would create an inherent conflict with the contributor role.
He points to other figures—including Elon Musk and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.—as examples of people who were pushed out of Democratic circles after departing from party orthodoxy. Yang says RFK Jr. briefly considered endorsing Harris before ultimately backing Donald Trump after being rebuffed.
Looking Ahead
In other excerpts, Yang teases a possible 2028 presidential run, likely under the Forward Party he co-founded in 2021, writing that "the odds of my running again are high." Fox News Digital reports it contacted Harris' office for comment; the article was updated to include CNN's response.
