Nestor Joel Lujan Flores, 31, pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter and collision involving death and was sentenced on Jan. 6, 2026, to 15 years in prison. Prosecutors say he struck 45-year-old Terry Ivory on Dec. 16, 2023, then drove nearly 40 miles before stopping at a Jack in the Box parking lot, where officers later found Ivory’s body. Flores registered a BAC of 0.093 the next morning and had a prior DWI conviction. A deadly-weapon finding requires him to serve at least half of his sentence before parole eligibility.
Texas Man Sentenced to 15 Years After Allegedly Driving Nearly 40 Miles With Pedestrian’s Body in His Car

A Dallas County judge has sentenced 31-year-old Nestor Joel Lujan Flores to 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter and collision involving death in a crash that killed a pedestrian in December 2023.
Flores entered his guilty pleas and was sentenced on Jan. 6, 2026, the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office said. Judge Dominique Collins of Criminal District Court No. 4 imposed concurrent 15-year terms on both counts and entered a deadly-weapon finding in the intoxication manslaughter case. That finding requires Flores to serve at least half of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
What Happened
On the evening of Dec. 16, 2023, prosecutors say Flores struck a 45-year-old pedestrian on the westbound service road of Interstate 30 near Cockrell Hill Road in west Dallas. The impact was described as severe: authorities say the victim was thrown into Flores’ vehicle and portions of the victim’s remains were later recovered at the crash site.
The pedestrian was later identified as Terry Ivory, 45, according to local reports. Prosecutors say Flores continued driving after the collision and — despite heavy damage to his vehicle — drove nearly 40 miles west, eventually pulling into a Jack in the Box parking lot in White Settlement shortly after 9:00 p.m.
"He didn't just leave," Ivory's sister, Nikitria Beasley, told FOX 4. "He was taken."
Surveillance footage and the district attorney’s office report that Flores remained in the parking lot for more than two hours. At about 11:15 p.m., White Settlement police were called after a customer reported a damaged vehicle and an unresponsive driver. Officers conducting a welfare check found Ivory’s body in the front passenger seat. Flores did not report the crash, authorities said.
Toxicology, Prior Record And Reaction
A blood draw early the next morning showed Flores had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.093, above the legal limit of 0.08 in Texas, prosecutors said. The district attorney’s office also noted Flores had a prior DWI conviction.
Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot commented that the case underscores the devastation caused by impaired driving and that the sentence reflects the seriousness of the defendant’s actions and holds him accountable for the harm caused.
The case drew attention for both the distance driven after the collision and the fact that Flores remained at the parking lot for hours before officers discovered the victim. Flores told investigators he believed he had hit an animal, according to earlier reporting.
Flores was convicted after his guilty pleas to intoxication manslaughter and collision involving death. The deadly-weapon finding attached to the manslaughter conviction affects parole eligibility, requiring him to serve at least half of the 15-year term before parole can be considered.
