Portland Police Release Photos Of Suspect After Two Officers Shot; Search Underway

Portland police on Tuesday released photographs of a man sought in connection with a Monday night shooting that wounded two officers. Tactical teams are actively searching for the suspect, who authorities say should be considered armed and dangerous.
Incident Details
The shooting occurred at about 8:20 p.m. Monday after officers responded to a report of a threat involving a weapon. Officers located the suspect on Northeast Clackamas Street between Northeast 16th Avenue and Northeast 17th Avenue, where the suspect allegedly fired at police and struck two officers.
Both officers were transported to a hospital by ambulance, treated and are reported to be in stable condition, the Portland Police Bureau said.
Suspect Description and Search Effort
Police describe the suspect as a Caucasian male in his mid-30s with facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black jacket layered over a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes. Authorities believe he may be armed with a knife and a handgun and was carrying a black backpack and a green shopping bag.
Multiple specialized units responded to assist with the search, including the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT), the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), the Air Support Unit, the Portland Police Bureau Unmanned Aircraft Systems Unit (UAS) and K9 teams. The bureau said tactical teams are "actively searching" the area and have established a perimeter.
Mayor Keith Wilson said at a news briefing: "This is a stark reminder of the dangers of the job. We're very concerned for the officers that were shot. We're happy to hear that they are in stable condition, and we wish them a speedy recovery."
The Portland Police Bureau urged anyone with information about the suspect's identity or current location to call 911 immediately. Authorities emphasized that the suspect should not be approached.
