Key takeaway: The FBI has ended a four-person protective detail for Lance Twiggs, the 22-year-old transgender partner of accused shooter Tyler Robinson, more than four months after the Sept. 10 killing of Charlie Kirk at a Turning Point USA event. Twiggs has not been charged and the agency offered no public explanation for the withdrawal. Court filings allege Robinson left a handwritten note and exchanged texts with Twiggs that investigators say point to a confession; Twiggs cooperated with questioning and has since moved out of state.

What Investigators Say

According to court filings and law enforcement statements, investigators located a handwritten note in the pair’s shared apartment in which Robinson allegedly wrote that he "had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I’m going to take it." Court documents also say Robinson texted Twiggs shortly before the shooting with the message, "look under my keyboard," which authorities say led them to the note.

In filings, Twiggs is quoted as texting: "You weren’t the one who did it right????" and Robinson allegedly replying, "I am, I’m sorry." These exchanges are described in court documents as part of the evidence under review.

Background And Statements From Relatives

A relative told Fox News Digital that Twiggs moved to a St. George, Utah, townhome with several college roommates while transitioning from male to female, and that he previously lived with his grandparents after leaving his parents’ home at 18. The relative described past family conflict over Twiggs’ gender identity and alleged struggles with substance use and gaming addiction. These claims are presented as the relative’s character account and have not been independently verified by authorities.

After other roommates moved out, the relative said, Robinson moved into the townhome and the two entered a romantic relationship. The pair reportedly lived together for about a year until Robinson’s arrest in September. Following the arrest, law enforcement moved Twiggs to what the Washington County sheriff described as a "safe space very far away from St. George." The relative also said Twiggs has since relocated out of state and retained an attorney.

Charges Against Tyler Robinson

Robinson faces multiple charges related to the shooting, including aggravated murder, two counts of obstruction of justice, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, two counts of witness tampering, and committing a violent offense in the presence of a child, according to court filings.

The FBI declined to provide a public explanation for withdrawing the protective detail. Fox News Digital reporter Stepheny Price contributed to this report.
