Police in Hoover, Alabama, found a married couple fatally shot inside their home on Dec. 16; a 3-year-old child in the residence was unharmed. Hoover, Ala. — Authorities discovered a married couple dead from gunshot wounds inside their home on Dec. 16. A 3-year-old child found in the residence was unharmed, police said.

Incident Details

The Hoover Police Department said its 911 center received a call at about 9:03 a.m. after a family member found the two adults unresponsive at a house in the 700 block of Highland Manor Court. Hoover Fire-Medics responded and pronounced a male and a female deceased at the scene.

Police confirmed both victims died of gunshot wounds. Although authorities did not initially release names, WBRC identified the female as Christina Chambers, a former sports reporter for the station and a mother to a 3-year-old son. Chambers and her husband were married in 2021, AL.com reported.

Official Statement

In a press release, the Hoover Police Department said the investigation is in its early stages but "it appears these deaths are the result of a murder/suicide and there is no threat to the public related to this case."

Professional Background

Chambers worked at WBRC from 2015 until July 2021 and later freelanced during a recent football season. She also served at Thompson High School from 2021 to early 2025, according to WBRC. Earlier in her career she reported and anchored at WAKA in Montgomery and began sports reporting at WLTZ NBC38 in Columbus, Ga., before joining Comcast Sports Southeast in Atlanta. She additionally freelanced for Raycom Media in 2014.

Reactions

Alabaster City Schools released a statement mourning the loss of their former employee, noting Chambers led the district's Broadcasting Academy and helped run THS TV. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama described Chambers as a "cherished colleague whose warmth and loving personality touched everyone she worked with." Alabama Sen. Katie Boyd Britt posted on X asking for "thoughts and prayers" for Chambers' family.

PEOPLE reported that it has contacted the Hoover Police Department for further comment. The department reiterated that the investigation is ongoing.
