The U.S. Air Force has revised the targeted delivery of the first of two replacement Air Force One jets to mid-2028, Bloomberg reported. The Air Force attributed the shift to "continuing discussions" with Boeing. Boeing did not immediately comment. Earlier statements indicated Boeing had proposed a 2027 delivery, which was three years after the originally contracted December 2024 date.

The U.S. Air Force has pushed back the expected delivery of the first of two replacement Air Force One aircraft to mid-2028, Bloomberg News reported on Friday. The revised timetable reflects ongoing discussions between Boeing and the Air Force over the program.

Air Force Statement:

"This timeline is the result of continuing discussions between Boeing and the Air Force," the service said in a statement provided to Bloomberg.

Boeing did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. In May, a U.S. Air Force official said Boeing had proposed delivering the delayed aircraft in 2027 — already three years later than the originally contracted delivery date of December 2024.

Program Context

The two new aircraft are intended to replace the current presidential transport fleet commonly referred to as Air Force One when the president is aboard. Delays in the program have been widely reported and stem from complex engineering, modification and integration work required for the specialized presidential configuration.
