A 6-year-old New Hampshire girl was hospitalized after ingesting a THC gummy and later tested positive for cannabinoids and cocaine. The state Division for Children, Youth and Families notified Nashua police on Nov. 3, triggering an investigation. Authorities allege the child's mother, Paige Goulet, told a witness not to cooperate; Goulet was arrested on a felony warrant, charged with witness tampering and endangering the welfare of a child, and released on $300 cash bail. She is due in Nashua District Court on Jan. 7.

A New Hampshire mother has been charged after her 6-year-old daughter was hospitalized following the ingestion of a THC gummy and subsequently tested positive for cannabinoids and cocaine, authorities said.

The state Division for Children, Youth and Families notified the Nashua Police Department on Nov. 3, prompting an investigation into the incident. Detectives learned the child required hospital treatment after consuming what was described as a THC-infused candy.

"While at the hospital, the juvenile victim tested positive for the illegal drugs, cannabinoids, and cocaine," the Nashua Police Department said in a statement.

Investigators allege the child's mother, Paige Goulet, 30, instructed a witness not to cooperate with the police probe. Detectives said Goulet neglected her duty to care for the juvenile and sought to interfere with the investigation.

Goulet was arrested by Meredith police on a felony warrant Monday for alleged witness tampering related to the Nashua investigation. She was taken into custody by Nashua police and formally charged with tampering with witnesses and endangering the welfare of a child. Goulet was released on $300 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Nashua District Court on Jan. 7.

Safety Reminder

Medical officials and child-safety advocates warn that edibles can be deceptively appealing to children and advise keeping all cannabis products and other medications securely stored, out of sight and reach of young children. Seek immediate medical attention if a child ingests an unfamiliar substance.
