Madison police are searching for 22-year-old Morgan Geyser after she removed a Department of Corrections monitoring bracelet and left a supervised group home. She was last seen on Nov. 22 near Kroncke Drive with an adult acquaintance. Geyser was one of two girls involved in the 2014 Slender Man-related attack that left classmate Payton Leutner stabbed but alive. Officials released surveillance images and ask anyone with information to call 911.

Madison police are actively searching for Morgan Geyser, 22, after authorities say she removed a Department of Corrections monitoring bracelet and left a group home in Madison, Wisconsin.

The Madison Police Department reports Geyser was last seen on Saturday, Nov. 22, around 8 p.m. near Kroncke Drive in the company of an adult acquaintance. Officials released a recent surveillance image and asked anyone with information to contact emergency services immediately.

Search Underway

Police say they were notified of Geyser's disappearance the following morning and have been following community tips and reported sightings. Investigators stressed the importance of contacting 911 if anyone believes they have seen her.

Background: The 2014 Attack

Geyser was one of three 12-year-old girls involved in a 2014 attack in a Milwaukee suburb that gained national attention. During a sleepover, Geyser and another girl led their classmate, Payton Leutner, into nearby woods under the pretense of a game and Geyser stabbed Leutner 19 times while the other girl encouraged the assault. Leutner survived after crawling to a nearby bike path and being discovered by a passerby.

The two attackers later told investigators they believed they were acting to please the fictional internet character known as Slender Man. Both Geyser and her accomplice were charged as adults with first-degree intentional homicide; each was ultimately found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect and committed to psychiatric treatment.

Release and Supervision

Years after the attack, court testimony from mental health experts led to Geyser's release from long-term psychiatric care. As a condition of her release, state health authorities placed her in a supervised group home and she was monitored with a Department of Corrections bracelet. Her former co-defendant was released earlier and spent several years in the same facility.

Authorities continue to circulate surveillance images and are appealing to the public for tips. Anyone who sees Morgan Geyser or has information about her whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately.
