The US carried out its largest military display near Venezuela to date as Washington prepares to designate President Nicolás Maduro and some allies as members of a foreign terrorist organization known as the "Cartel de los Soles." The demonstration — described as a "bomber attack demo" — involved at least six aircraft, including an F/A-18E from the USS Gerald R. Ford, a B-52 and an RC-135 reconnaissance plane. The designation would trigger new sanctions and legal restrictions on providing "material support," and officials say it could broaden US military options, though it does not automatically authorize lethal force. Diplomacy remains possible but has shown no public progress.
